It isn't often that you find a circumnavigator under 30'.  In fact, we know of many Cascade 29's that have cruised the Pacific Ocean for years, some continuing on to complete a circumnavigation of the world.  Recently two single handers did it and one of them is planning his second trip on the same Cascade 29.

Why are they so popular for voyaging?  They are simple, economical, safe and very responsive.

Their designed simplicity allows for easy construction at home and offers the capability of repairs in any yard in the world that has basic tools and fiberglass products on hand.

Since these boats are economical to build, they can be fitted out with the best electronics, sail inventory and engine that are available and still have a good reserve for a cruising budget.

Self-rescuing is an important part of off-shore cruising.  The Cascade 29 has an enviable stability  factor of 1.56; which means she has one of the highest righting moments of any blue water cruiser out there.

Nothing is more frustrating than trying to sail a sluggish, heavy handed cruiser.  What is satisfying and down-right enjoyable is to sail a boat which is nimble in a seaway, yet sure-footed and sensitive to the helm.  Single handers need a boat like that and they become "true believers" when they sail our Cascade 29 for any period of time.
